Interview with Raine Hewlett - The Wax Lounge Spotlight

We recently had the absolute pleasure of working alongside Raine Hewlett, the founder of The Wax Lounge in Hamilton, to redesign her award-winning boutique studio spa. Raine had a dream of creating a beautiful, warm and state-of-the-art medical spa in a holistic setting that allowed each client to relax both mind and body. We took Raine’s inspiration and created what is now a modern and soothing space for her and her clients in the heart of Hamilton. We had a chat with her about the overall spa-designing experience. Read on!

ND - Can you share with us your professional background and how you came to be involved in the spa industry?

RH - I’ve been in the industry over 30 years,  having worked for L’oreal, MAC Cosmetics, Estee Lauder, and  Christian Dior. I’ve worked the skin care side as well as the makeup side.

ND - What services does The Wax Lounge offer? And what are the most popular ones?

RH - We are a full-service day spa that offers facials, massage, laser hair removal, medical aesthetic services, and of course waxing!

ND - What makes The Wax Lounge unique and what sets it apart from other spas?

RH - We make sure that every service is done with an emphasis on relaxation. Even our waxing, laser hair removal, and medical aesthetic services are done with candles lit, soothing music, aromatherapy and heated beds in winter.

ND - How do you ensure your clients have a seamless and enjoyable spa experience from start to finish?

RH - Consistency and a genuine care for the client and their experience always ensures a seamless experience.

ND - What was the memorable moment you had during the design and building process of The Wax Lounge with NOLA? Tell us why it stood out to you!

RH - Wow! How do I choose one moment from so many? I really enjoyed receiving the layout for the plan that included a timeline. Every step was carefully crafted and on time!

ND - How did you envision the final design of your spa before you started working with Nola Designs?

RH - I envisioned a bright, clean, minimalist, airy, space.

ND - In what ways do you feel the finished spa design exceeded your expectations?

RH - Even the brow area feels like its own separate space. That exceeded my expectations. I think I was expecting it to be an extension of the waiting area, but it’s not, and I love it!

ND - How have customers responded to the new design of the spa? Has it impacted your business in terms of customer flow, customer satisfaction, and overall revenue?

RH - Clients love it and always comment. It really has improved the customer flow.

ND - Do you have any advice or tips for others who are looking to redesign their spa or similar space? Do you think that hiring a professional designer is essential?

RH - Definitely hiring a designer is essential. If you’re thinking about doing it, go for it!       It’s worth every penny.

ND - We are loving watching you grow. Are there any upcoming plans or projects for The Wax Lounge that you can share with us?

RH - We are always researching all of the latest services and techniques. We also will go receive those services if the research leads us to do so. If that service shows great benefit to the client with very little risk, we may just bring it in!
